So, you wanna know how to gamble on sports. How many times have you walked into a Las Vegas sports book and look up only to see a field of red and green numbers & have no idea what to do. Well..I’m here to break it down for you:
From left to right what you will typically see
bet number, team name, spread, ratio of the spread, over under, ratio (if not default), moneyline
bet number - this is the number you are going to give to the casino
team name - i think that’s self explanatory
spread - number of points a given team must win by or lose by in order to “cover”
ratio - by default if nothing is there you will see -110. that means for every 110 dollars you bet if you win you win 100 dollars. 55 wins 50, 22 wins 20, 11 wins 10 — you get the idea. i HOPE.
over/under - this number represents the total score of the game - do you think it will be over this amount or under this amount
ratio (if not default) - normally after the total score number you will not see a ratio defined — this means that for every 110 you bet you win 100. sometimes you will see next to the number though +110 or -105. why? if you really must know then email us.
moneyline - you are simply choosing who wins this game. if there is a minus symbol in front of the number that means they are favored to win and you have to bet more money to win less money. if there is a plus symbol that means that team is the underdog so you win more money than you lay out. sometimes you’ll see the word EVEN here. that means for every 100 you win 100. even money. +110 means for every 100 you bet, you win 100. -110 means for every 110 you bet you win 100.
